Polka America Corporation is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2010 Polka America Corporation Excellence (PACE) music awards. Awards were given in five categories: 1. Best Polish recording, 2. Best Slovenian recording, 3. Best Contemporary recording, 4. Best Variety recording, and 5. Best New Original Song, released in the year 2009.

Forty-two experts in the Polka genre were asked to submit every recording that was made in 2009. From this master list, these experts submitted their choices for the top nominees in each category. That result created a public ballot of the top ten recordings to appear on our ballot in each category.

We received a total response of 2005 votes, from all over the United States and Canada. Based on this impressive total, and the interest this award has generated, we perceive this as a truly meaningful recognition of the Best Recording and Song of 2009.

The Winners Are:

1. Best Polish CD: Polka Playin' Fool - John Gora and Gorale

2. Best Slovenian CD: Gaylord Klancnik - CD-0060 - Gaylord Klancnik

3. Best Contemporary CD: Freshly Squeezed - Squeezebox

4. Best Variety CD: Looking Back - die Schlauberger

5. Best Original Song: Polka Playin' Fool - Joe Rodgers, John Gora, John Gora & Gorale

Congratulations to all the runners-up.  This was a close vote in all categories.  As we will not be releasing the further placement of votes, we certainly do congratulate you on your accomplishments and placement on the national ballot.

Polka America Corporation congratulates all the nominees for their fine recordings. We would also like to thank all of our registered experts for taking the time to identify the nominees and create the ballot. Thank you to our independent judge, for going above and beyond to insure the integrity of our voting process. Finally, we would like to thank all of our members and public voters. Because you cared enough to vote, we have given awards which are truly national in scope and recognition.
